FAQ List
What's your warranty?
Pro-Tech Contracting backs all labor with a 2-year warranty on every project we complete. This covers workmanship defects and installation issues for two full years from project completion. Combined with 30+ years of experience, rigorous quality checks at each stage of every project, and comprehensive general liability and workers' compensation insurance, we do everything possible to ensure you're fully satisfied before we consider a job complete. For roofing, we also pass along manufacturer warranties on materials — asphalt shingles typically carry 25- to 50-year manufacturer warranties depending on the product line. Fiber cement siding products like James Hardie carry 30-year manufacturer warranties. Our labor warranty is separate from and in addition to any materials warranties. If you have a concern about completed work, contact us at (802) 318-0205 and we will respond within one business day to schedule an inspection.
Do you work outside of Vermont?
Our services are primarily focused on Vermont within a 60-mile radius of Burlington, covering nine counties: Chittenden, Addison, Grand Isle, Franklin, Lamoille, Orleans, Essex, Caledonia, and Washington. This radius covers the majority of Vermont's population and allows us to maintain the same high standard of service across every project. We do occasionally consider projects outside that area on a case-by-case basis with appropriate travel reimbursement — typically for larger projects or existing clients with properties in neighboring states. If you're unsure whether your location falls within our service area, the simplest thing to do is call (802) 318-0205 or send a message through our contact form. Tell us about your project and we'll let you know whether we can help.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes — all estimates are completely free with no obligation. Use our online contact form, email us at protechcontracting1@gmail.com, or call (802) 318-0205. For most projects, the contact form is the fastest way to get a response — we typically reply within one business day. When we provide an estimate, it includes an itemized breakdown of materials, labor, and timeline so you know exactly what you're paying for before any work begins. We don't provide vague ballpark numbers. Every estimate is written, detailed, and includes a clear project plan so you can make an informed decision without pressure. There is no cost for the estimate and no obligation to move forward.
What are your business hours?
Our customer service team is available Monday through Friday, 7am to 7pm EST. We work around your schedule — if you need to discuss a project outside those hours, leave a message and we'll call back promptly, typically the same business day. For urgent situations such as emergency repairs, storm damage, or active leaks, call (802) 318-0205 and leave a message flagged as urgent. Our team monitors messages for time-sensitive situations. For routine inquiries, the contact form at vtprotechcontracting.com/contact-us is monitored throughout business hours. We are an affiliate member of Vermont Realtors and understand that real estate timelines sometimes require faster turnaround — let us know if your situation is time-sensitive and we'll prioritize accordingly.
Where can I find independent reviews?
Pro-Tech Contracting holds all five-star Google Reviews, including a notable review from local artist Claire Payne about our conversion of a Vermont barn into Claire Payne Studios — a complex historic restoration project. We also hold five-star ratings on Smith, the public contractor directory, and maintain a BBB rating of A−. We are an affiliate member of Vermont Realtors. For homeowners doing due diligence before hiring a contractor, we recommend checking Google Reviews directly (search 'Pro-Tech Contracting Burlington VT'), reviewing our BBB profile, and asking us for references from past projects similar to yours — we're happy to connect you with past clients.
Can I supply my own materials?
Absolutely — it's your project and you have full control over material selection. Our team has purchasing relationships with suppliers and can source top-quality materials at competitive prices, but if you have a preferred brand, price range, product line, or aesthetic in mind, tell us and we'll work with what you want. The only situations where we may recommend against client-supplied materials are when a specific product is incompatible with Vermont's climate or when a material choice would void a labor or manufacturer warranty. In those cases we'll explain our concern clearly and give you options. Many clients choose a hybrid approach — we source structural materials and they select finish materials like tile, fixtures, or flooring.
How do I request a specific team member?
When you contact us to discuss your project, mention who you'd prefer to work with and why. We'll do our best to accommodate your request and schedule accordingly. Pro-Tech Contracting does not subcontract strangers — the same experienced crew works your project from first consultation to final walkthrough. This means if you've worked with a specific team member on a past project, there's a good chance we can schedule them for your next one. Availability depends on our current project schedule. For specialty work — such as Frank's painting projects (third-generation painter, 24+ years experience) — let us know upfront and we'll build the schedule around the right person for your job.
Do you handle commercial projects?
Yes. Pro-Tech Contracting takes on commercial work throughout Vermont including restaurant fit-ups, shopping center painting, commercial demolition, office remodels, tenant improvements, and more. Our equipment includes a 60-foot JLG lift, which allows us to handle large commercial exteriors and high-ceiling interiors that smaller contractors cannot reach without scaffolding. Commercial projects are managed with the same written estimate and detailed planning process as residential work — you'll know the cost, timeline, and scope before any work begins. We are experienced in coordinating around business hours to minimize disruption to ongoing operations. For commercial project inquiries, contact us through the website or call (802) 318-0205 to discuss your scope.
Do you do insurance restoration work?
Yes. We have extensive experience working with insurance claims for water damage, flooding, fire damage, mold remediation scoping, and other covered events. We document the full scope of damage with written reports and photographs, communicate directly with your insurance adjuster throughout the process, and ensure all restoration meets current Vermont building codes. We've completed barn restorations, whole-home water damage remediation, and fire damage repairs. If your claim has already been approved, we can begin work immediately with the approved scope. If you're at the beginning of the claims process, we can help document the damage for your adjuster. Contact us at (802) 318-0205 with your situation and we'll walk you through next steps.
How long do projects typically take?
Project timelines vary significantly based on scope. A drywall installation for a single room is typically completed within one week. A bathroom remodel runs 1–2 weeks. A full kitchen remodel takes 3–6 weeks. Larger projects like home additions, second-story expansions, or whole-house renovations can take several months. Every project at Pro-Tech starts with a detailed written plan and timeline so you always know what to expect and when. We flag potential delays early — weather holds for exterior work, permit timelines from local municipalities, or material lead times — and we communicate proactively. We don't consider a project complete until the final walkthrough is done and you're satisfied. For a timeline estimate specific to your project, contact us for a free consultation.
